[Samsung to provide Olympic Committee with over 5,000 SCH-T300 handsets and will unveil six new handsets during the Olympic Winter Games.]

Dallas, Texas -- This February, spectators and sports enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience the ultimate in digital technology when Samsung unveils six new wireless phones at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

Samsung's innovative technology will be on display at the Olympic Rendezvous at Samsung center in Salt Lake Olympic Square, where visitors can experience Samsung phones firsthand.

As the Official Wireless Telecommunications Equipment Partner of the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Samsung will showcase its innovative and stylish wireless telecommunication handsets to visitors from around the world. The company is also providing the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) with approximately 20,000 units of wireless telecommunications equipment including more than 5,000 units of the SCH-T300, the official mobile phone of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Samsung's support includes dedicated experts for on-site technical support in key Olympic technology venues including TCC(Telecommunications Operations Center), Main Media Center and Olympic Village.

Samsung has found success by paying significant attention to both technological innovation and product design. With the continuous development of groundbreaking wireless phones, Samsung has converged cutting-edge form and function to manufacture milestones such as the i300, America's first fully integrated phone with the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) capability and a color screen, the N300, America's first Global Positioning System (GPS)-enabled wireless phone and handsets for cdma2000 1X and GPRS high-speed data networks.

"As a leading player in the wireless telecommunications equipment industry, Samsung is proud to align its brand with a world class competition like the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Samsung Telecommunications America(STA)'s wireless terminals division. "Bring out products to a global audience at Olympic Rendezvous at Samsung center and to SLOC speaks to our commitment to the 2002 Games and to consumers."

Samsung is a leader in the CDMA market with approximately 30 percent market share in the U.S., making it one of the top five manufacturers selling wireless telecommunication handsets in the nation. Samsung has outpaced every competitor in the U.S. with a 250 percent increase in brand awareness and is in position to become a top tier vendor, according to wireless industry research firm Strategy Analytics.
